Kashmir Issue a Test of UN Promises, International Community Must Pressurize India: CM Balochistan

**Quetta (Daily Qudrat):** Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, emphasized that Kashmir’s right to self-determination is not a political slogan but a legally recognized promise under United Nations Security Council resolutions, which has yet to be honored.

In a message on Kashmir’s Self-Determination Day, he recalled that on January 5, 1949, the UN Commission for India and Pakistan granted the people of Jammu and Kashmir the right to determine their future through a free, fair, and impartial referendum. However, decades of illegal occupation and obstinacy by India have continuously violated this global commitment.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti highlighted that since August 5, 2019, India’s unilateral and unconstitutional measures have intensified systematic attempts to alter the political, social, and demographic character of Indian-occupied Kashmir, while suppressing political leadership, restricting freedom of expression and media, and imposing arbitrary detention laws and search operations, in clear violation of human rights.

Despite these challenges, he said the resilience and commitment of the Kashmiri people to their right of self-determination remains unshaken. He urged the international community to compel India to end human rights violations, reverse illegal actions since August 5, 2019, repeal oppressive laws, and grant Kashmiris their right to self-determination as mandated by the UN Security Council.

The CM assured the people of Kashmir that Pakistan, including the people of Balochistan, fully stands with them and will continue to provide moral, political, and diplomatic support on every available global forum for their legitimate struggle.
