Suspect Arrested for Blackmailing 16-Year-Old Student After Sexual Assault in Lahore

Lahore: Police have arrested a suspect for blackmailing a 16-year-old student through a video following a sexual assault in Chohang, Lahore. The case was registered after the victim was threatened and intimidated via the video.
Following the incident, Chairperson Punjab Women Protection Authority, Hana Parvez Butt, visited the victim’s home on the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. She met with the girl and her family, assuring them of full legal and protective support.
Hana Parvez Butt emphasized that blackmailing and harassing girls is a serious crime. She urged victims not to remain silent or be intimidated but to immediately report such incidents. “The government and the law are with you. File your complaint, justice will be ensured, and those involved will face strict punishment under the law,” she said.
She also confirmed that the victim would receive legal and psychological assistance, highlighting that the government maintains a zero-tolerance policy against crimes targeting women and girls. According to Butt, creating a safe Punjab for women is a clear vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The arrest and support measures aim to send a strong message that crimes against women and children will not be tolerated.
