Kidnappings for Ransom on the Rise in Kech; Development Projects Also Under Threat, Says Dr. Malik Baloch

**Turbat:** National Party leader and former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, has expressed serious concern over the increasing incidents of kidnappings for ransom in Kech district, warning that the situation has become alarming as children of responsible individuals and business families are being targeted.
Dr. Baloch highlighted that while kidnappers are abducting children, the state’s current approach is also hindering Balochistan’s development. Despite the construction of several roads in the province, ongoing security issues continue to disrupt progress. He specifically mentioned the Turbat–Mand road, which has turned into a source of daily distress for the public despite available funds.
The former Chief Minister further noted that contractors working on the Kolwah to Hoshap–Awaran road project recently faced severe challenges due to security threats. He emphasized that even during past insurgency periods, development work continued without such disruptions and ordinary citizens were not subjected to these difficulties.
Dr. Baloch concluded by stating that Balochistan is currently facing extremely challenging conditions, where both the state’s approach and militant activities are impeding development. He urged both sides to seriously review their policies and strategies to ensure the safety of citizens and the continuation of development projects.
