Journalists’ Removal from News Channels and Bureau Closures in Balochistan Sparks Protest in Assembly

Quetta (Kudrat Daily) — During a session of the Balochistan Assembly, lawmakers Farah Azeem Shah and Rahmat Saleh Baloch strongly condemned the alleged mistreatment of journalists in the province, raising concerns over the removal of media workers from news channels and the closure of bureaus.
Speaking on a point of order, the lawmakers said that employees of various news channels in Balochistan are being forcibly terminated, while entire bureaus are being shut down, leaving many media workers unemployed. They termed these actions unacceptable and harmful to press freedom in the province.
They further stated that a journalist in Quetta recently suffered a heart attack amid growing pressure and uncertainty in the media sector. The lawmakers added that Balochistan is already underrepresented in national media, and such actions are further silencing the region’s voice.
They urged authorities and media organizations to ensure fair treatment of journalists and to immediately address the growing concerns regarding job security and media representation in the province.
