Balochistan Assembly Adjourned After Former Minister Bismillah Kakr’s Death; Details of Gwadar New Town Housing Scheme Demanded

Quetta: The Balochistan Assembly session was adjourned midway following the death of former provincial minister Bismillah Kakr. Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai also demanded full details of the Gwadar New Town housing scheme and issued a ruling for action against officials responsible for preparing faulty PC-I documents.
During the session, members held a prayer in honor of Bismillah Kakr. PPP lawmaker Zamrak Khan Achakzai praised the late minister’s services. Meanwhile, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rahman raised a point of attention regarding the allotment of plots in the Gwadar New Town housing scheme, stating that while 990 people were allotted plots, 600 had not received their land. The Speaker requested complete details of the scheme.
Additionally, Zubed Ali Reki highlighted that the construction of the Nag to Washuk road had not been completed in two years. Responding, Finance Minister Shoaib Nosherwani remarked that many projects in Balochistan are planned on paper rather than on the ground, and funds are not released for such projects. The Speaker ruled that action should be taken against officials responsible for preparing incorrect PC-I documents.
The Assembly also approved proposed amendments to the Balochistan Assembly rules of procedure and discipline before adjourning the session indefinitely.
