Punjab to Establish Six New Fish Farms, Promises Full Support for Local Farmers: Maryam Aurangzeb

Lahore: Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb announced that the provincial government is set to establish **six new fish farms**, calling it a major development project for the fisheries sector.
Speaking at an event in Lahore, the minister said the **fisheries industry holds immense potential**, and the government is committed to providing *all possible facilities* to local farmers.
According to reports, Maryam Aurangzeb said the government is actively addressing challenges in the fisheries sector, adding that **growth in this industry directly contributes to economic development**. She noted that Punjab has long been carrying out significant work in this area, and that a **26,000-acre feasibility study is currently underway**.
The minister further stated that global experts were invited to Pakistan for guidance, which has proven extremely helpful. She added that the government is also working on establishing **Punjab’s first dedicated fish market** to strengthen the supply chain and boost commercial activity in the sector.
