Maryam Nawaz Says She Told Scooter-Riding Woman to Slap Her Assailant Back

LAHORE:Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has revealed that she personally spoke to the woman allegedly assaulted while riding a scooter in Lahore and told her to return the same number of slaps she had received from the accused.
Responding to a user’s post on social media platform X, Maryam Nawaz said she had spoken directly to the woman following the incident.
“I told her that she should slap the man back as many times as he had slapped her,” the chief minister said.
However, the woman reportedly responded that receiving protection was enough for her and that the government had made her feel that justice was on her side.
Maryam Nawaz’s remarks came amid public attention surrounding the alleged assault in Lahore’s Mozang area and the subsequent release of the accused on bail.
### Court Grants Bail to Suspect
A Lahore district court has approved the bail application of Syed Mudassir-ul-Hassan, who was arrested in connection with the alleged assault on the scooter-riding woman.
The court ordered his release against surety bonds worth Rs100,000, subject to the condition that he was not required in any other criminal case.
During the hearing, police had requested that the suspect be sent to jail on judicial remand. However, the court granted his bail, paving the way for his release.
Expressing disappointment over the decision, Maryam Nawaz shared a report about the suspect’s bail on X and captioned it with the word “SAD.”
### Details of the Alleged Assault
According to police, a case was registered at Mozang Police Station after the woman was allegedly assaulted while travelling on her scooter in the area.
The suspect was arrested following the incident, which reportedly involved physical violence and an alleged attempt to snatch the woman’s valuables.
Reports stated that the accused allegedly pushed the woman off her motorcycle, slapped her repeatedly and pulled her hair, subjecting her to physical and emotional distress.
The incident drew attention because of the alleged nature of the assault and concerns about the safety of women travelling on public roads.
The case remains subject to the legal process, and the allegations against the accused have yet to be established through a final judicial determination.
