Federal Constitutional Court Shifted to Federal Shariat Court Building; Notification Issued

Islamabad — In a major administrative decision, the Federal Constitutional Court is being relocated to the building currently occupied by the Federal Shariat Court. A formal notification announcing the move has been issued.

According to the notification, the Federal Constitutional Court will now operate from the premises of the Federal Shariat Court, while the Shariat Court itself will be shifted to the Islamabad High Court building. President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the relocation plan.

Previously, the newly established Federal Constitutional Court had begun functioning inside the Islamabad High Court premises, where Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, Justice Aminuddin Khan, along with other judges, had commenced hearing cases.

The court was constituted following the 27th Constitutional Amendment, which approved the creation of a separate Federal Constitutional Court instead of a constitutional bench within the Supreme Court. Justice Aminuddin Khan was appointed as its Chief Justice, along with the appointment of additional judges.

The latest relocation aims to streamline judicial administration as the new court structure becomes operational.
