Food Delivery Riders Protest Against Nida Yasir’s Remarks, Demand Public Apology

Karachi: Pakistan’s well-known morning show host Nida Yasir has once again found herself at the center of controversy. The popular host, who has remained in the spotlight for years, is now facing backlash over her recent remarks about food delivery riders.
In a recent statement, Nida claimed that “food delivery riders often deliberately avoid carrying change so they can get more tips.” She also suggested that customers should either arrange exact change beforehand or ask riders to bring additional change.
Her comments triggered strong reactions on social media, particularly from food delivery riders who called the remarks unfair and disrespectful. Riders stated that they work with honesty despite harsh weather, difficult routes, and dangerous working conditions — all while receiving low compensation.
According to riders, not only is the tipping culture in Pakistan weak, but companies also fail to provide proper facilities. Many riders shared that when customers do not have the exact amount, they often pay an extra 10 to 20 rupees from their own pockets. “Being labeled as thieves despite our hard work is extremely painful,” they said.
Riders have demanded that Nida Yasir issue a public apology on her show.
Social media users have also sided with the riders, calling Nida’s remarks inappropriate and insensitive. Many stressed that these hardworking individuals deserve respect, not criticism, for the tough job they perform every day.
