Pakistan’s Situation Worsening as Economy Collapses, Says Asad Umar

Lahore: Former federal minister Asad Umar has said that Pakistan’s situation is deteriorating and the economy has effectively collapsed, warning that conditions will not improve until the ongoing political crisis is resolved.
Speaking to the media outside an anti-terrorism court, Asad Umar criticized the government, saying eight committees have been formed to suggest ways to improve the economy, yet “what has the government done in the past one and a half years?”
Commenting on the enforcement of traffic laws, he said implementing rules is a good step, but “poor motorcyclists are being fined while the powerful remain untouchable.”
He further stated that Pakistan gave a strong response to India and the country achieved victory that the world acknowledges. However, he stressed that despite this, “Pakistan’s internal situation is not good and the economy has collapsed.”
The former minister said the government has “wasted three and a half years,” adding that stability is impossible without ending the political crisis. He emphasized that resolving the political impasse is the government’s responsibility, and all stakeholders must sit together to find a solution.
