Ancient China Reveals Human Sacrifices of Men and Women

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) – Archaeologists have uncovered evidence suggesting that thousands of years ago, men and women in China were sacrificed for various purposes.

Researchers discovered traces dating back 3,800 to 4,300 years in a Stone Age society, indicating that both men and women were sacrificed in different contexts.

A study by the Chinese Academy of Sciences revealed that in a settlement in northwestern China, graves of the elite contained the bodies of women who were ritually sacrificed thousands of years ago.

For the first time, evidence also emerged of collective burials of men associated with human sacrifices in the region.

Experts believe that ancient societies practiced two types of human sacrifices: one involved mass burials of men as part of public rituals, while the other involved elite burials in which women were interred alongside the deceased.
