Pakistan Played Key Role in Gaza Ceasefire Agreement: Egyptian Foreign Minister

Islamabad — Egyptian Foreign Minister **Dr. Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdul Ati** arrived in Pakistan on an official visit on Sunday, where he met with **Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar**. During the meeting, Dr. Badr praised Pakistan for its significant role in facilitating the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

The visit is being seen as an important step in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting peace and stability in Gaza. Both leaders discussed the longstanding friendly ties, brotherhood, and shared objectives between Pakistan and Egypt.

Last week, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar had announced that Pakistan is ready to participate in the proposed **International Stabilization Force (ISF)** in Gaza to help maintain peace. However, he clarified that Pakistan will not be involved in disarming Hamas, stating that this responsibility rests solely with the Palestinian administration and its law enforcement agencies.

At a joint press conference, Ishaq Dar said that the Egyptian foreign minister’s visit would help achieve common goals, emphasizing that both countries are working to enhance cooperation in economic, defense, and other sectors.

Dr. Badr Ahmed condemned recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan, affirming Egypt’s solidarity with Pakistan and commitment to joint efforts against terrorism and extremism. He thanked Pakistan for its warm hospitality and stressed the strong, brotherly, and longstanding ties between the two nations.


Highlighting shared challenges, Dr. Badr said that Pakistan’s cooperation across various sectors is commendable, and Egypt seeks to further strengthen this collaboration. He reiterated Egypt’s commitment to working closely with Pakistan to eliminate terrorism and extremism and affirmed that both countries are fully determined to address common challenges together.

Regarding Gaza, Dr. Badr emphasized that Egypt advocates for an independent Palestinian state and that the resolution of the Palestinian issue must follow **UN resolutions**. He noted that Egypt is making every effort to maintain peace and implement the ceasefire in Gaza, acknowledging Pakistan’s **important and commendable role** in the process.

The Egyptian foreign minister also praised Pakistan’s consistent support on various multilateral platforms and expressed both countries’ eagerness to expand trade, explore joint investment opportunities, and deepen economic cooperation.
