Smog Levels at Lowest This Year; Clear Blue Skies in November Reflect Successful Policies, Says Punjab Minister Maryam Aurangzeb

LAHORE: Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has stated that smog levels in the province are at their lowest this year, and the appearance of clear blue skies in November is evidence of the success of government policies.
According to private TV channel Geo News, Maryam Aurangzeb said there is a slight possibility of pollution coming from Gujranwala and Faisalabad, but instead of burning crops, farmers are now encouraged to use crop residue as fuel. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has installed sprinklers at 780 construction sites to control dust.
She added that continuous government monitoring has helped stabilize overall air quality, with smog squad teams conducting daily operations and imposing fines on those burning crop residues.
The minister also stated that modern inspections of brick kilns are underway, and northeast winds in the afternoon may carry minor smoke from agricultural areas.
“Smog levels are at their lowest this year. The clear blue skies observed in November are proof of our successful policies,” Maryam Aurangzeb emphasized.
