BISP Introduces New Payment System; Social Protection Wallets Launched for Registered Beneficiaries

ISLAMABAD: The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has launched a new payment mechanism titled **Social Protection Wallets** to make cash disbursements more transparent, secure, and convenient for registered citizens. The announcement was made by BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid in a video message on Tuesday.
According to Senator Khalid, the programme has begun distributing **free SIM cards** to registered women under the new system. Beneficiaries can visit their nearest BISP office or designated camp with their original CNIC and mobile phone, where — after biometric verification — they will receive a free SIM. This SIM will be used to activate their Social Protection Wallet.
She emphasized that the SIMs are completely free and advised women not to pay anyone for obtaining them. “Only BISP will create the Social Protection Wallet on the SIM. Do not approach any unauthorized individuals or organizations,” she cautioned.
The chairperson added that **all future BISP payments will be transferred exclusively through these Social Protection Wallets**, and all payment-related messages will also be sent to the same SIM.
The new system aims to streamline the disbursement process, curb fraud, and ensure direct access to financial support for millions of eligible women across the country.
