Suryakumar Yadav Flustered by Pakistani Journalist’s Question on Mixing Politics with Cricket

KARACHI: Despite winning the tournament, the Indian team once again faced criticism over alleged politicization of cricket, as captain Suryakumar Yadav appeared visibly unsettled when questioned by a Pakistani journalist during the post-match press conference.
The journalist asked Yadav about his conduct throughout the tournament — including refusing to shake hands with Pakistan players, skipping the joint trophy photo session, and holding a politically charged press conference — noting that he was the *“first captain in cricket history to openly bring politics into the game.”*
Rather than answering directly, Yadav appeared flustered, accused the journalist of being angry, and claimed he did not fully understand the question, thereby avoiding a clear response.
It is worth mentioning that during the tournament, Yadav had already been fined for making political statements at an earlier press conference. Following the final, however, he reiterated his stance by announcing that he would donate all his Asia Cup match fees to the Indian Army.
