Asia Cup: Bangladesh Coach Reveals Why Team Lost to Pakistan

Dubai: In a crucial Super Four clash of the Asia Cup, Bangladesh suffered an 11-run defeat at the hands of Pakistan after failing to capitalize on key moments in the match.
Bangladesh won the toss and opted to field first, putting Pakistan under pressure from the very first over. In-form opener Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed in the opening over, followed by Saim Ayub in the second, leaving Pakistan struggling early on.
Despite regular breakthroughs, Bangladesh’s fielding lapses proved costly. Muhammad Haris (31), Muhammad Nawaz (25), and Shaheen Afridi (19) made vital contributions—both Nawaz and Afridi taking advantage of dropped catches to add crucial runs.
Pakistan managed to post 135 runs in their allotted 20 overs and went on to defend the total, securing victory by 11 runs.
After the match, Bangladesh coach Phil Simmons admitted that the dropped catches were the turning point. *“When we dropped the catches of Shaheen and Nawaz, that’s where the match slipped out of our hands,”* he said.
