Section 144 Expires in Balochistan; Ban on Rallies, Double Riding No Longer in Effect

Quetta – The one-and-a-half-month-long restrictions imposed under Section 144 in Balochistan have expired, as the provincial Home Department has not issued any further extension.
With the lapse of Section 144, the ban on motorcycle double riding, gatherings of five or more people, sit-ins, and rallies has automatically ended.
Earlier, in view of the security situation, the Balochistan Home Department had imposed Section 144 across the province from August 1 for 15 days. The measure was subsequently extended three times — on August 16 and again on September 1.
The last extension expired on September 14, after which no new notification was issued, effectively lifting the restrictions.
