IHC Dismisses Petition Seeking Commission on Ex-CJP Saqib Nisar’s Alleged Audio Leak

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has dismissed a petition seeking the formation of a commission to probe the alleged audio leak of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar related to the Panama Papers case verdict.

The court rejected the plea due to non-prosecution as no representative appeared when the case was called. Justice Muhammad Asif dismissed the petition on these grounds.

The alleged audio, which surfaced in 2021, purportedly featured the former Chief Justice issuing instructions regarding the Panama case decision. The petition had been filed by former President of the Sindh High Court Bar Association, Salahuddin, who sought the constitution of an inquiry commission.

Earlier, former IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah had reserved his decision on the maintainability of the petition after hearing arguments.
