Gwadar: Work on Shadi Kor–Choor Dagar Water Transmission Line Nears Completion

Gwadar:The project to activate the Shadi Kor–Choor Dagar water transmission line, aimed at improving the water supply system in Gwadar, has entered its final phase. Director General Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) Moin-ur-Rehman Khan inspected the progress today.

During his visit, the DG reviewed facilities at the Shadi Kor water transmission line, Choor Dagar pumping station, Nalint pumping station, and the Sawad Dam. He closely examined the condition of water reservoirs, transmission lines, and machinery. Chief Engineer GDA Haji Syed Muhammad and Project Director (Water) Mir Jan Baloch accompanied him.

Officials briefed the DG that the restoration of the 83-kilometer main transmission line from Shadi Kor to Choor Dagar is nearly complete. Trial water supply has already begun; however, a fault discovered seven kilometers before Choor Dagar temporarily halted supply. It is expected to resume by tomorrow.

At Sawad Dam, the DG noted that nearly one month’s water reserve is available, which is being pumped through the irrigation system to the GDA pumping station. From there, high-powered machinery transfers water seven kilometers to Choor Dagar and then 61 kilometers onward to Gwadar Water Station. Despite the process being highly complex, GDA staff are ensuring uninterrupted operation with round-the-clock efforts. Currently, the city is receiving 3 to 3.2 million gallons of water daily.

The DG was also informed that several villages along the main line from Choor Dagar to Gwadar city—spanning three union councils—are receiving hundreds of thousands of gallons of water daily. Once the Shadi Kor–Choor Dagar line is fully functional, more villages along the route will benefit.

At Choor Dagar pumping station, DG Khan inspected the power and water systems and praised the staff’s performance.

Later, he visited GDA Central Park and Padi Zar Park to review the newly installed lighting and cleanliness arrangements. He directed further improvements to provide citizens with a safe and pleasant recreational environment. Director of Environment Rasool Bakhsh Baloch briefed him on recent initiatives.
