Governor Balochistan Calls for Skill Development Programs to Reduce Unemployment

Quetta:Governor Balochistan, Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, has emphasized that in today’s fast-paced world, modern skills hold equal importance alongside academic degrees. He urged Khuzdar Engineering University to design a comprehensive strategy to introduce skill development programs aimed at equipping unemployed and less-educated youth with modern technical expertise.
Speaking at the Governor’s House in Quetta during a briefing on the university’s performance and future plans, Governor Mandokhail said such initiatives could boost the local economy and significantly reduce unemployment across the province. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Maqsood Ahmed and Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Sohrab Khan Bizenjo were also present at the briefing.
The governor noted that education and degrees offered in public universities will only bring real benefits when aligned with ground realities. “We must train our youth to become producers rather than mere consumers,” he stressed.
He urged the university’s leadership to ensure transparency and merit in all affairs, which he said would raise academic standards and enhance students’ learning outcomes.
Highlighting the importance of academia-industry linkages, Governor Mandokhail said that the government alone cannot provide jobs to millions of people, making it essential to strengthen the private sector. He further emphasized that the government should facilitate the business community and industrialists so they can play their role in tackling unemployment.
