Shujabad: 80-Foot Breach in Chenab River Embankment Sparks Evacuations — One Worker Missing

MULTAN:A critical situation unfolded in **Shujabad Tehsil** of Multan as an **80-foot-wide breach** occurred in the **Super Bund** on the **Chenab River**, resulting in the flooding of several nearby villages and the urgent evacuation of residents.

During efforts to fill the breach, **three laborers were swept away by the gushing waters**. **Rescue teams managed to save two**, while **search operations for the third worker are still underway**.

Heavy machinery has been called in to reinforce and repair the embankment. However, the damage has already impacted multiple settlements including **Basti Mithu**, **Soman**, and **Basti Bangala**, where rising floodwaters have forced residents to flee.

### 🔴 **Emergency in Jalalpur Pirwala**

In a related development, the nearby **Jalalpur Pirwala Tehsil** is now **surrounded on all sides by floodwaters**, prompting large-scale evacuations.

According to **CPO Multan Sadiq Ali Dogar**, **90% of the rural areas** surrounding Jalalpur Pirwala are **now submerged**. Authorities, along with rescue teams, are working round-the-clock to move residents to safer locations.
