Kohlu Resident Mir Beg Shahjah Meri Seeks Justice Against Alleged Police Brutality

Kohlu:Kohlu district resident Mir Beg Shahjah Meri, a marginalized resident of Kech province, reached the National Press Club to share his plight with journalists. He alleged that yesterday, Special Branch Police personnel, including Inspector Muhammad Sharif Meri and Constable Jan Muhammad Meri, forcibly arrested him and transferred him to the City Police Station after severe torture.

The affected individual stated, “I am a poor and helpless person, earning my livelihood through laborious work. The Special Branch Police have unjustly targeted me, demanding a bribe of twenty thousand rupees. When I refused to pay the bribe, they fabricated a false case to intimidate me.”

Responding to questions from journalists, Mir Beg Shahjah Meri expressed, “There is no doubt that incidents of theft have increased in Kohlu. Unfortunately, there is collusion between thieves and the police, resulting in a rise in theft incidents in the area. Instead of apprehending real culprits, the police harass poor people like us.”

In conclusion, the affected person appealed to the Inspector General of Balochistan, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Sub-Region), and the Kohlu Superintendent of Police, urging them to take notice of the Special Branch Police’s misconduct and provide him justice.
