Education Must Be Made Standard and Accessible to Uplift Balochistan: JI Leader Hidayat-ur-Rehman
Quetta:Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan’s MPA, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch, has stressed that education is the key to rebuilding and developing Balochistan and bringing it on par with other provinces. He said the current education system is producing “ATMs” who only know how to earn money without differentiating between halal and haram, rather than nurturing honest and capable individuals concerned about the nation’s welfare.
Addressing an **Educational Expo Program** organized by Islami Jamiat Talaba Zhob at Zhob Degree College, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman criticized the neglect of government educational institutions, saying their standards can only improve if ministers and bureaucrats are compelled to enroll their children in public schools.
He added that Islami Jamiat Talaba has been playing a significant role in promoting education not only across Pakistan but also in Balochistan. At the event, students from various institutions showcased their skills, and Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman distributed trophies and other prizes among outstanding participants.
Highlighting the dual standards in the education system, he said, “There cannot be one system for the rich and another for the poor. If justice is sold in courts, the poor will never get justice. Similarly, nepotism, bribery, cheating, and a double standard in education have pushed talented students backward, while the children of the elite study abroad and return to rule over us.”
The JI leader also emphasized equal focus on girls’ education, stating that “education is obligatory for both boys and girls.” He noted that students trained under Islami Jamiat Talaba excel not only academically but also in character and morality.
He called for a **high-quality Islamic education system** instead of Lord Macaulay’s model, which he said produces “educated ignorants.” “Alongside knowledge, character-building is essential. No matter how high the degree, without honesty and integrity, neither success is possible nor Allah’s pleasure can be earned,” he remarked.
