Asif Kirmani Announces Departure from PML-N

Islamabad: Dr. Asif Kirmani, former Political Secretary to ex-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, has formally announced his departure from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) following criticism of the party’s leadership. Kirmani, known for his close association with Nawaz Sharif, expressed disillusionment with the party’s political affairs over an extended period.
Citing dissatisfaction with the PML-N government, Kirmani remarked that people are “suffering from electricity bills and inflation,” while a group of leaders within the party applauds the ruling authorities for their “ineffective governance.”
The seasoned politician did not hint at joining another party but indicated he would soon issue a detailed statement regarding his decision to leave the party. Kirmani had served as Nawaz Sharif’s political secretary during his tenure as Prime Minister in 2013, being considered a close aide. He had played an active role during the PML-N’s electoral campaigns prior to the party’s assumption of power in 2013.
