Fashion Designer Maria B Summoned by Cybercrime Agency Over Alleged Anti-Trans Remarks
Lahore: Prominent fashion designer Maria B has found herself in hot water as the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) initiates an inquiry against her over alleged propaganda against the transgender community on social media.
According to reports, a complaint was filed by Naeem Butt, also known as Seema Butt, accusing Maria B of spreading anti-trans content online. The complainant stated that her remarks and shared content have hurt the sentiments of the transgender community.
In response to the complaint, the NCCIA has summoned Maria B for questioning on August 26, 2025, as part of its ongoing investigation.
The controversy stems from a recent video statement released by Maria B, in which she claimed that a transgender party had taken place in Lahore. Her video included footage allegedly from the event and called on the Punjab government to take action.
The matter has sparked intense debate online, drawing attention to issues of discrimination, freedom of expression, and the responsibilities of public figures on digital platforms.
