Balochistan Government Announces Restoration and Renovation of Historic Forts to Boost Tourism

Quetta:The Balochistan government has announced plans to restore and renovate several historic forts, including the **Moti Gheram Fort** in **Jhal Magsi**, which is often referred to as **Balochistan’s Taj Mahal**. The provincial government has also begun work on the restoration of **Lai Dam Fort** in **Panjgur**, **Harmagai Fort** in **Washuk**, and **Kharan Fort**.

According to **Soheil Rehman Baloch**, Secretary of the **Culture and Tourism Department**, **35 crore rupees** have been allocated in the current year’s budget for the restoration and beautification of these four forts. The funding breakdown includes **10 crore rupees** each for the renovation of **Moti Gheram Fort**, **Harmagai Fort**, and **Kharan Fort**, while **5 crore rupees** will be dedicated to the restoration of **Lai Dam Fort**.

Baloch expressed that the restoration of these ancient forts will not only preserve Balochistan’s rich heritage but will also contribute significantly to promoting **tourism in the region**. He added that the **Moti Gheram Fort**, which is often called **Balochistan’s Taj Mahal**, will be a major attraction once the renovations are completed.
