National Assembly Session: Lawmakers Voice Strong Complaints Against K-Electric

Islamabad: During a session of the National Assembly, several lawmakers raised serious complaints regarding K-Electric’s operations in Karachi. Members from various parties, particularly the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), criticized the utility company for excessive and indiscriminate power outages.
PPP MNA Munawar Ali Talpur voiced his concern, saying, “If one or two households fail to pay their bills, K-Electric should cut their power—not the electricity of the entire village or neighborhood.”
Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, acknowledged the gravity of the issue, noting, “When the K-Electric issue was raised, all MNAs from Karachi raised their hands in agreement.”
Minister of State Abdul Rehman Khan Kanju assured the assembly that all electricity-related complaints would be addressed. In response, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq instructed the minister to hold a special meeting with the concerned MNAs from Karachi to resolve the issue.
He further stated, “Aminul Haque and other members should meet with the Minister of State and find a solution.” The Speaker subsequently deferred the K-Electric-related question and emphasized the importance of resolving Karachi’s electricity issues through proper coordination and dialogue.
