Aliema Khan Denies Claims That Imran Khan Stopped His Children From Coming to Pakistan, Says Their NICOP Was Lost

Rawalpindi: In a recent statement, Aliema Khan, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, addressed various political issues, including her comments on the nomination of Mashal Yousafzai to the Senate and the issue of Imran Khan’s children’s visit to Pakistan.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Aliema Khan dismissed the recent nomination of Mashal Yousafzai, who recently won a Senate seat from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, calling it meritless. “I don’t want to waste my time talking about such people,” she said, adding that the selection of senators should be based on merit. “There are many people who qualify for Senate seats on merit, not just Mashal.”
On the issue of her brother Imran Khan’s children and their potential visit to Pakistan, Aliema Khan clarified that Imran’s sons had applied for their National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP), but their applications were reportedly lost. “The children have applied for their NICOPs and visas. The embassy claims no such application was received, but I have the tracking number for the application,” she explained.
She further revealed that a friend of hers contacted the Pakistani ambassador, who stated that the approval for the visas needed to be obtained from the Ministry of Interior. Aliema Khan humorously remarked that she had suggested they get approval from Mohsin Naqvi, the caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab. “Yesterday, it was reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will issue the visas, but the ambassador is not responding to any inquiries. In an emergency, a visa should be processed within an hour,” she added.
Aliema Khan also addressed the ongoing political movement and the efforts to secure the release of her brother, Imran Khan. “The movement for Imran’s release is something the people will decide to join. We have been going to the courts and visiting the jail for two years. The movement is not linked to the children; it will continue until the release of our leader,” she stated.
In response to a question about her brother’s children, Aliema Khan reiterated that Imran Khan had never stopped his children from coming to Pakistan. “It is a lie that Imran Khan prevented his children from visiting Pakistan. He has never stopped them. He believes his children’s involvement in the movement is unnecessary—he alone is enough for the cause.”
