Good News for National Athletes: Prime Minister Announces Record Increase in Prize Money

Islamabad: National athletes have received great news as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to significantly increase the prize money for athletes who bring honor to the country in the field of sports. The new decision includes a historic rise in the rewards for Olympic medalists and other prominent sports achievements.
Under the new scheme, athletes winning a gold medal at the Olympic Games will now be awarded 30 million rupees, up from the previous prize of just 10 million rupees. Silver medalists will receive 20 million rupees, while bronze medalists will be awarded 10 million rupees.
According to the government’s decision, gold medalists at the Winter Olympics and Asian Games will also receive 10 million rupees as a prize, with the same amount for gold medalists at the Para Olympic Games.
For the Asian Games, gold medalists will receive 10 million rupees, silver medalists will get 7 million, and bronze medalists will be awarded 5 million rupees. In the Commonwealth Games, a gold medal will fetch 7.5 million rupees, while a gold medal in the Islamic Games will earn 5 million rupees.
Players winning the British Junior and U.S. Open Junior titles will be rewarded with 10 million rupees. For the Asian Indoor Games, gold medalists will receive 2 million rupees, while gold medalists at the SAF Games will be awarded 1 million rupees.
Gold medalists at the Youth Olympics will receive 5 million rupees, while winners of World Championships will get 7.5 million rupees.
The government has also ensured that athletes with special needs are not overlooked. Prize money has been allocated for the Special Olympic World Games, Blind, and Deaf Sports as well. This decision has been widely praised by athletes and sports communities alike, recognizing the government’s support for excellence in sports.
