Four Children Killed as School Building Collapses in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar District

Rajasthan, India:A tragic incident unfolded on Friday morning in the Manoharthana area of Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district, where the roof of a government school building collapsed, killing four children and injuring at least 17 others.

According to Indian media reports, the collapse occurred at the Government Higher Primary School in the village of Piplodi. Around 40 students were present in the school at the time of the incident. The victims were attending their classes when the roof suddenly gave way, burying several students under the rubble.

Emergency rescue operations began immediately, with local authorities, rescue teams, and district officials — including the Deputy Commissioner — reaching the site. The injured students were quickly shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Reports indicate that the school building was in a dilapidated condition, and multiple complaints regarding its structural integrity had been filed previously. The school caters to students up to the eighth grade.

The tragic collapse has sparked outrage and grief among parents and the local community. Many families rushed to the scene upon hearing the news, demanding accountability and swift action against those responsible for ignoring repeated warnings about the building’s poor condition.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, and further details are expected as the rescue and recovery efforts continue.
