Pakistan Shaheens Announce Squad for England Tour: Saud Shakeel to Lead

Lahore: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the 18-member squad for the upcoming tour of England, where Pakistan Shaheens will play two three-day matches and three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against England. The tour is scheduled from July 17 to August 6, with Saud Shakeel appointed as the captain of the team.

The squad features a mix of young and experienced players, with 11 players under the age of 25, showcasing Pakistan’s focus on nurturing fresh talent for the future. Some of the notable names in the squad include Ali Zaryab, Azan Owais, Faizal Akram, Haider Ali, Moazz Sadat, Mehran Mumtaz, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Salman, Mubasir Khan, Musa Khan, Mushtaq Ahmed, and Umair bin Yusuf. Roheil Nazir, the wicketkeeper, is also included in the squad along with Sajid Khan, Shahid Aziz, Shamil Hussain, and Obaid Shah.

The tour will be overseen by former Test cricketer Imran Farhat, who has been appointed as the head coach for Pakistan Shaheens for this series.

The squad is set to play a mixture of formats, with two three-day matches designed to prepare the team for the longer format, followed by the three ODIs, giving players the opportunity to showcase their skills across various types of matches.

This tour is seen as a key step in preparing the next generation of cricketers for international cricket, and the inclusion of several young talents indicates Pakistan’s commitment to building a strong, versatile side for the future.
