PTI’s Major Decision After Losing Reserved Seats, Lawmakers to Reaffirm Loyalty

Peshawar: The parliamentary party of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to re-administer loyalty oaths from its members following the party’s loss of reserved seats. This decision comes amid concerns about potential defections from PTI lawmakers.
According to Express News, the PTI parliamentary party has called for a meeting in Islamabad, scheduled for tomorrow, where all members of the National and Provincial Assemblies are instructed to attend.
PTI sources revealed that the meeting will focus on the party’s reserved seats and the political situation in the province. A major agenda item will be to have lawmakers reaffirm their commitment to the party by signing an oath declaring they will not join any other political party.
Furthermore, PTI plans to take oaths from the 35 independent members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. It’s worth noting that PTI had already taken oaths from its assembly members after the elections.
The situation has changed significantly for PTI following the Supreme Court’s recent ruling on reserved seats, which has reshaped the political dynamics in the provincial assembly. The opposition is now stronger, requiring only 8 more votes to secure a majority.
PTI leadership fears that other parties may approach the independent members, especially in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision. To address these concerns, the party has called for the meeting in Islamabad.
