PTI Chairman Condemns Government’s Attempt to Restrict PTI, Calls for Upholding Constitution

Quetta:Chairman of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and Member of the National Assembly, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, criticized the government’s spokesperson, Atta Tarar, in a press conference, accusing him of trying to impose restrictions on Pakistan’s largest political party, Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), through the country’s highest court. Achakzai vehemently condemned the move, labeling it as an attempt to undermine the constitutional supremacy at a time when the nation is grappling with multifaceted crises due to unconstitutional and unlawful actions. He emphasized the need for all political parties and institutions to tolerate each other, uphold the constitution, empower the duly elected parliament as the source of authority, and ensure all civil and military institutions operate within constitutional limits. Achakzai stressed that every Pakistani must responsibly maintain allegiance to their respective parties and institutions to steer the country out of the current multifaceted crisis. He questioned the logic behind and necessity for Tarar’s party, a democratic entity that upholds constitutional supremacy and parliamentary autonomy, to prepare legislation granting intelligence agencies the authority to tap phones and violate fundamental human rights. Achakzai asserted that millions of Pakistanis would not accept any restrictions on democratic political parties or allow any institution to undermine their elected parliament.
