Emergency Situation at Lucknow Airport After Smoke Scare on Saudi Arabia’s Hajj Flight

Lucknow: An emergency situation was triggered at Lucknow Airport when smoke was reportedly seen coming from the wheels of a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight shortly after landing. The flight, which was part of the annual Hajj operations, had just arrived from Jeddah carrying pilgrims to India. As the aircraft touched down, smoke and sparks were visible, causing immediate alarm.
Airport officials confirmed that the Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) team responded swiftly to the situation, working alongside the airline’s crew to control the smoke and prevent further damage to the aircraft. Passengers were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported. The incident did not disrupt airport operations.
A spokesperson from the airport explained that the incident occurred on the morning of June 15, as the Saudi Airlines flight landed at Lucknow. The ARFF team arrived quickly at the scene and, in collaboration with the airline’s team, managed to contain the smoke and prevent damage to the plane. All passengers disembarked safely.
This flight was part of the Hajj operations, which this year included over 100,000 Indian pilgrims heading to Mecca.
Meanwhile, an Air India flight heading to Delhi had to return to Hong Kong due to a technical issue shortly after takeoff. Flight AI315, operated by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, was en route from Hong Kong to Delhi when the pilot suspected a malfunction, forcing the plane to return to Hong Kong for safety.
