Sindh Cabinet Approves Budget of PKR 3451.87 Billion for the Next Financial Year

Karachi: The Sindh Cabinet has approved a budget of PKR 3451.87 billion for the upcoming financial year. The decision was made during a meeting of the Sindh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The budget is designed with public priorities in mind, and it aims to provide relief to government employees, as stated by the Chief Minister.
Murad Ali Shah emphasized that the budget would be presented with a focus on public welfare. He also mentioned that the budget proposals were formulated based on the guidance of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has always prioritized the national and public interests.
According to official documents, the development budget of Sindh will be PKR 1018 billion, with the provincial development budget amounting to PKR 520 billion and the district development budget at PKR 55 billion. The budget also includes foreign funds of PKR 366 billion and PKR 76 billion allocated from the federal annual development program.
The budget allocates PKR 400 billion for 3642 ongoing development projects, while PKR 331 billion is set aside for over 3,000 incomplete projects. In addition, PKR 119 billion will be allocated for 481 new development initiatives.
For the agriculture sector, the budget proposes to provide discounted seeds, fertilizers, medicines, and tools to over 1.3 million small farmers. A subsidy of PKR 35 billion is proposed for agricultural equipment, PKR 7 billion for medicines, and PKR 8 billion for seeds.
Sindh’s share in the federal Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) is expected to be PKR 76.28 billion, with PKR 366 billion allocated for projects funded by foreign aid. The budget also proposes the inclusion of 481 new schemes in the next financial year.
Additionally, the proposed budget includes PKR 38.205 billion for educational development projects and PKR 9.115 billion for Sindh Police and other law enforcement agencies. A proposal for the installation of over 100,000 solar systems across the province is also part of the plan.
In the current financial year, the Revenue Board has collected PKR 270 billion in taxes over the first 11 months, with an expected total collection of PKR 300 billion by the end of the fiscal year.
