PM Shehbaz Sharif Says World Cannot Progress Without China

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised China’s remarkable development under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, stating that the world cannot progress without China and that its rise is a matter of pride and satisfaction for everyone.

Addressing a ceremony held to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations, the prime minister congratulated the Chinese leadership and people on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan. He said the foundations of diplomatic ties between the two countries were laid 75 years ago by the founding leaders of both nations.

Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan was proud to be the first Muslim country to recognize China and among the first countries in the world to establish diplomatic relations with Beijing. He added that both nations had since built an unmatched and unique friendship based on sincerity, cooperation, and mutual trust.

The prime minister said China had always stood firmly with Pakistan during difficult times, including earthquakes, floods, and other crises. He noted that Chinese support for Pakistan had been selfless and unwavering throughout history.

Highlighting the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Shehbaz Sharif said the project reflected China’s commitment to supporting Pakistan’s economy, creating employment opportunities, and promoting development across the country under President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road vision.

He also reiterated Pakistan’s strong support for the “One China Policy” and recalled Pakistan’s historic role in facilitating former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger’s secret visit to Beijing decades ago.

The prime minister praised China’s rapid economic and technological progress, saying every visit to cities such as Beijing and Guangzhou revealed new industries and modern infrastructure. He stated that China today was among the world’s leading economic and military powers.

“Today, China is second to none in economic growth and military strength. The world cannot progress without China, and this is a matter of great satisfaction and pride for all of us,” he said.

Shehbaz Sharif also assured the Chinese leadership that Pakistan would provide the highest level of security to Chinese nationals working in the country. He said Pakistan and China would further strengthen cooperation in counterterrorism and security measures.

The prime minister expressed hope that President Xi Jinping would soon visit Pakistan and participate in the year-long celebrations marking 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
