Actress Fiza Ali Faces Backlash for Controversial Comment on Sohail Warraich

Actress and host Fiza Ali recently came under fire on social media after making a controversial remark about renowned journalist Sohail Warraich. During a recent program, Fiza Ali sarcastically commented that if Sohail Warraich wasn’t a journalist, he would likely be cleaning toilets in a restaurant or abroad.
Her comment quickly sparked a wave of criticism on social media. Social media users condemned her disrespectful words, with Safina Khan stating, “Sohail Warraich is a proud asset of Pakistan’s journalism. His contributions, neutrality, and analytical insight have always defined our journalistic landscape. His mockery is completely unacceptable. We strongly condemn the inappropriate and offensive language used against him and demand that the respect for journalistic values and personalities be upheld.”
An X (formerly Twitter) user commented, “In Fiza Ali’s view, cleaning toilets is degrading. Does this mean hard work and earning an honest living are bad? This shows the narrow-mindedness that exists in this country.”
Journalist Ajmal Jami added, “Unfortunately, the actress in her attempt to insult Sohail Warraich, has demeaned toilet cleaners. She should apologize if she has any sense of decency.”
Suboh Syed also criticized Fiza Ali, writing, “Sohail Warraich is a humble, sufi-like person who smiled and remained silent, but everyone should have walked out of the program. This is a common tactic—first use offensive words to get attention, then apologize later.”
In response to Fiza Ali’s comments, a senior journalist posted on social media, stating, “My status is even lower than toilet cleaners. I am the dust of the streets, as described by Mian Muhammad Bakhsh as ‘galiyan da roda kooda.’ For me, cleaning toilets is not humiliating at all; in fact, cleaning others’ filth is a noble service.”
