All-Rounder Sikandar Raza Accuses Zimbabwe Coach of Racial Discrimination

Lahore:Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 hero, Sikandar Raza, has reportedly become a victim of racial discrimination in Zimbabwe. The all-rounder filed a written complaint with the Harare Metropolitan Cricket Association (HMCA), accusing local coach Blessing Mafouwa of making racially insensitive remarks during a match.

The incident took place on June 1 during the ongoing Wagne Cup, where Sikandar Raza was representing Old Hararians against Rainbow Cricket Club. According to sources, Raza claimed that while leaving the field after the match, the coach of the opposing team, Blessing Mafouwa, used derogatory language with racial undertones.

Although Sikandar did not directly name the accused in his initial complaint, HMCA Chairman Tafadzwa Maduro clarified that the allegations were directed at Blessing Mafouwa. He said, “We received the report last week about Sikandar Raza facing racial discrimination. The preliminary report has been received, and on Tuesday, Mafouwa will be called for a hearing to clarify the charges. In the meantime, he has been temporarily suspended from all HMCA activities.”

Maduro emphasized that racial discrimination is a serious offense that the association does not tolerate. “We take such serious allegations extremely seriously and will ensure a full and transparent investigation,” he added.

Sikandar Raza, who was instrumental in Lahore Qalandars’ victory in the PSL 2025 final with match-winning runs in the decisive moments, expressed his desire for a thorough investigation into the matter. “I want a complete investigation into the issue. If the allegations are found to be true, strict action should be taken so that this becomes a lesson for current and future generations. There should be no place for such behavior,” he stated.

The cricket community and fans have shown their support for Sikandar, with many calling for a fair and unbiased inquiry into the matter. The outcome of this investigation will be closely followed, as it will send a strong message regarding the treatment of racism in sports.
