Virat Kohli Breaks Kumar Sangakkara’s Record, Moves to Second in All-Time International Runs

Indian cricket superstar **Virat Kohli** has added another milestone to his illustrious career by surpassing **former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara** in international cricket runs during the first ODI of the series against **New Zealand**.

The match, played in **Vedodara**, saw New Zealand bat first and set a target of **301 runs** for the hosts. Indian opener **Rohit Sharma** was dismissed for 26, but **Shubman Gill** and Kohli’s half-centuries anchored India’s chase. India comfortably defeated New Zealand by **4 wickets**, with **Virat Kohli being named Player of the Match**.

Kohli scored **93 runs off 91 balls**, including **8 fours and 1 six**, elevating his career total in international cricket to **28,068 runs**, surpassing Sangakkara’s **28,016 runs**.
