IMF Rejects Indian Interference Claims, Reaffirms Full Support for Pakistan’s Loan Program

Washington, D.C:The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has dismissed reports of Indian attempts to hinder Pakistan’s loan program, reaffirming its full support for the country and confirming that the Executive Board’s meeting to review Pakistan’s financing request will proceed as scheduled.

In an official statement, the IMF clarified that the meeting will take place as planned tomorrow, with no delays or alterations. The Fund also expressed hope for reduced tensions between Pakistan and India, emphasizing the need for peaceful resolution of disputes and prioritizing regional stability and economic development.

According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Finance, the upcoming board meeting is expected to approve a **\$2.3 billion financing package**, which is seen as crucial for stabilizing the country’s economy and ensuring financial resilience.

Additionally, the meeting is likely to approve a **\$1.3 billion climate financing package** under the **Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF)**. These funds will be disbursed in phased installments over the next 28 months to help Pakistan combat the impacts of climate change.

It is noteworthy that a staff-level agreement between Pakistan and the IMF was reached on **March 25, 2025**, forming the basis for the final decision now awaiting the board’s approval.
