PM Shehbaz Sharif Condemns Indian Missile Strikes, Vows Nation Will Stand United Against ‘Cunning Enemy’

ISLAMABAD:Prime Minister **Shehbaz Sharif** has strongly condemned India’s missile strikes on Pakistan, describing them as cowardly attacks by a “cunning enemy” targeting civilian areas and places of worship. The Prime Minister affirmed that the Pakistani nation and its armed forces are fully prepared to confront any aggression.

In a statement released on social media, PM Shehbaz stated, “India has launched cowardly attacks on **five locations** in Pakistan, targeting civilian populations and mosques. Pakistan reserves every right to respond to this warlike act — and is responding forcefully.”

The **Indian missile strikes**, which hit cities including **Kotli, Muzaffarabad**, and **Bahawalpur**, resulted in the martyrdom of **two civilians** and injured several others. According to the **Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR)**, the **Pakistan Air Force** has retaliated, successfully shooting down **two Indian fighter jets**.

PM Shehbaz added that the **entire nation stands united** with the armed forces and that the morale of the people remains high. “The enemy will never succeed in its nefarious objectives. The Pakistani people and military know how to respond to such aggression,” he said.

This flare-up follows rising tensions after a **terror attack in Indian-administered Kashmir’s Pahalgam** on **April 22**, where 26 people were killed. Without completing an investigation, India blamed Pakistan and responded by **suspending the Indus Waters Treaty**, a historic agreement mediated by the World Bank in 1960. Pakistan has firmly **rejected** India’s unilateral decision to suspend the treaty.

As the crisis escalates, international observers have called for restraint, while **Pakistan continues to emphasize its right to defend its sovereignty and protect its citizens** from external aggression.
