Meteorological Department Predicts Rain and Thunderstorms in Karachi Until May 10

Karachi:The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted thunderstorms and heavy rains with strong winds for Karachi and several other parts of Sindh for the next several days. The rain spell, influenced by western winds, is expected to continue until **May 10**, during which three separate waves of western winds are predicted to impact the city.
The weather department has warned of **partially cloudy** conditions in most districts of Sindh, including **Karachi**, **Sanghar**, **Umerkot**, **Matiari**, **Mithi**, **Thatta**, **Sukkur**, **Ghotki**, **Shikarpur**, **Chor**, **Jacobabad**, **Larkana**, **Dadu**, **Mirpur Khas**, **Shaheed Benazirabad**, **Khairpur**, and adjacent areas, where **thunderstorms** and **strong winds** are expected. The **South and Southeast of Sindh** are expected to experience intermittent heavy rainfall.
On **Tuesday**, the weather in most districts of the province is expected to be warm and dry, however, **Umerkot**, **Tharparkar**, and **Mirpur Khas** are likely to experience **dust storms** and rain. The situation is expected to remain dynamic, with rainfall expected in various districts, including **South Punjab**, **Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s southern regions**, **northeastern and southern Balochistan**, and **Azad Kashmir**.
The PMD also provided an update on **Karachi’s weather** after some **light rain** and **strong winds** were reported in various areas of the city on Monday morning. These weather conditions led to a significant drop in temperature, providing much-needed relief. Initially, heavy rainfall was expected to continue into Monday evening, but the onset of dry northeastern winds has diminished the chances of heavy rain in Karachi for the next few days.
Meteorologists had earlier predicted that Karachi would receive consistent rain until Tuesday, but with the shifting winds, heavy rainfall is now less likely. However, **Larkana** witnessed a record-breaking rainfall on Monday, with **38 mm** of rain recorded, making it the highest rainfall in May since **1991**. The previous highest May rainfall in Larkana was **15 mm** on **May 21, 1991**.
The **PMD** continues to monitor the weather situation across Sindh, urging residents to rely only on official sources for the latest weather updates.
Stay tuned for updates, and prepare for fluctuating weather conditions.
