Despite Tensions, Pakistani Cargo Ship Docks at Indian Port with 26,000 Tons of Coal

Karachi: Amid ongoing Pakistan-India tensions, a Pakistan-flagged cargo vessel is currently docked at India’s Haldia Port in Kolkata, offloading a shipment of 26,000 tons of coal from Malaysia.
According to sources within the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), the vessel named Sibi arrived at the Indian port under a charter agreement finalized before the recent escalation in hostilities between the two countries.
Despite the strained relations, maritime operations continue under the 2008 Indo-Pak Maritime Protocol, which allows flagged cargo ships from both countries to access each other’s ports.
PNSC sources emphasized that the Sibi is operating under a legally binding charter agreement and in full compliance with government directives and maritime policies. The vessel is delivering Chinese cargo as part of its ongoing international shipping operations.
