Indian Army Northern Commander Removed for Refusing Pakistan Offensive

New Delhi: The Indian government has removed Lieutenant General M.V. Suchindra Kumar from his post as the head of the Indian Army’s Northern Command after he reportedly refused to comply with orders to initiate military action against Pakistan.
According to Indian media reports, the decision came in the aftermath of the recent incident in Pahalgam. The Modi administration appointed Lieutenant General Prateek Sharma as the new Northern Commander, replacing Lt. Gen. Kumar.
Sources claim that Lt. Gen. Kumar opposed the proposed offensive, stating that it was not an appropriate time for such action and warned that initiating conflict could have serious repercussions. He also refrained from blaming Pakistan for the Pahalgam incident, which reportedly displeased the central government.
Following this, the Indian government allegedly held him responsible for the intelligence and security failure related to the Pahalgam attack, ultimately leading to his removal from command.
