Saudi Arabia Cracks Down on Hajj Fraud, Arrests Multiple Suspects Behind Fake Pilgrimage Schemes

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia:Saudi authorities have arrested several individuals involved in fraudulent Hajj schemes, including the promotion of fake Hajj packages through social media platforms. The Ministry of Interior made the announcement on Friday, warning pilgrims against falling for unauthorized and misleading offers.

According to official reports, the suspects face charges including the advertisement of false accommodation and transport services near holy sites, offering to perform Hajj on behalf of others, illegal sale and distribution of sacrificial animals, and unauthorized sale of Hajj wristbands.

The Ministry confirmed that all arrested individuals have been handed over to the Public Prosecution after the completion of initial legal procedures.

Saudi officials reiterated that only the official **“Nusuk”** platform may be used by residents within the Kingdom to obtain legitimate Hajj permits. International pilgrims, on the other hand, are required to apply for Hajj visas through the **“Tasreeh”** platform, which is approved by Saudi authorities.

Citizens and residents have been strongly urged to adhere strictly to the official procedures for Hajj. Authorities have also encouraged people to report any suspicious activities or fake campaigns by calling emergency numbers **911** in Makkah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions, and **999** in other parts of the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has previously emphasized that valid Hajj travel is only permitted with the correct Hajj visa issued through government-approved agencies in 80 countries, or via the **Nusuk Hajj** platform for pilgrims from 126 countries.

Authorities have warned that any offers or advertisements found outside of these platforms should be considered fraudulent and will not be recognized as official. For residents of Saudi Arabia, Hajj packages can only be booked through the Ministry’s official website or the Nusuk app.
