Sheikh Hasina Says She is Alive for a Purpose, Promises Justice for Awami League Workers

Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and President of the Awami League, Sheikh Hasina, shared an emotional message with her party workers on social media, discussing her future course of action. According to Indian media reports, Sheikh Hasina stated that there must be a reason why Allah has kept her alive until now.
Sheikh Hasina, in her heartfelt speech, expressed confidence that a day would come when those responsible for persecuting the Awami League workers would be brought to justice. She further criticized the interim government’s Chief Advisor, Mohammad Yunus, calling him a person who exploited small loans for large profits, living a life of luxury abroad, and stated that such a person could never be a well-wisher of the public.
The former Prime Minister also revealed that although her government had supported Yunus in the past, it became clear that the benefits did not reach the people. She accused Yunus of now using his power to destroy Bangladesh, once considered a model of progress, which today she described as a “terrorist state.”
Sheikh Hasina expressed grave concerns over the ongoing targeted killings of Awami League leaders, activists, lawyers, journalists, and artists. She also criticized the media restrictions in place, noting that news of serious crimes like rape, murder, and robbery is being suppressed, and media outlets that report on such issues are being targeted.
In a deeply emotional moment, Sheikh Hasina recalled the day her father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the first president of Bangladesh, and other family members were killed, mentioning that she lost her entire family in a single day and was not even allowed to return to the country. She said she truly understands the pain of losing loved ones.
Sheikh Hasina emphasized that if Allah has kept her safe until now, it must be for a higher purpose, and she vowed that those responsible for the atrocities would face punishment. She assured the families of the slain Awami League leaders that justice would be served, just as she had brought the killers of her parents to justice.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Yunus, the head of the interim government, has urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to support his demand for Sheikh Hasina’s return, accusing her of making inflammatory statements in the media and attempting to destabilize the country.
Sheikh Hasina was forced into exile in India on August 5, 2024, after a prolonged student protest led to her stepping down from a 15-year reign. Following her departure, an interim government was formed, with Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus taking charge.
