FBR Extends Deadline for Sales Tax and Federal Excise Returns for February 2025

Islamabad, Pakistan:The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for filing Sales Tax and Federal Excise returns for February 2025. The new deadline, initially set for March 18, 2025, has been pushed to March 27, 2025.

The FBR issued instructions to Chief Commissioners of Inland Revenue, Large Taxpayers Offices (LTOs), Medium Taxpayers Office (MTO), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs), and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) on Monday. According to the FBR’s notification, the extension was granted under the powers vested in Section 74 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, and Section 43 of the Federal Excise Act, 2005.

Tax experts indicate that such extensions are typically granted in response to requests from businesses facing technical or procedural delays. The FBR has urged taxpayers to meet the new deadline to avoid penalties and ensure smooth processing of their returns.

Businesses are advised to file their returns promptly to comply with tax regulations and avoid any complications.
