Quetta:Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has announced a special grant of one billion rupees for the Government Post Graduate Science College Quetta and expressed his commitment to directly oversee the institution’s management.

While addressing a gathering, he emphasized the importance of this historic educational institution, stating that the college is a prominent educational center for the students of Balochistan, having produced many distinguished personalities, including his late father, Mir Ghulam Qadir Bugti, who completed his F.Sc. at this very college. He further stated that the time had come to repay the debt owed to this institution.

The Chief Minister also assured that the necessary resources would be provided to modernize the college with advancements in education and IT research. He directed the Secretary of Communications to work on making the Science College an exemplary educational institution in the province, adding that the provincial government was ready to provide a blank check for this purpose.

The Chief Minister visited the college for the second time after the fire incident and expressed satisfaction over the progress of the restoration work. He acknowledged the role of the former Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court, Justice Muhammad Hashim Kakar, who had guided him and suggested that he visit the college following the fire to expedite the restoration process.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti reiterated the government’s commitment to transforming the Science College into a center of modern knowledge and technology. He instructed the relevant authorities to develop a comprehensive master plan for the college, ensuring the provision of essential facilities such as playgrounds, hostels, solarization, and more within the next year.

Additionally, a state-of-the-art IT park will be constructed to provide students with modern scientific and technological facilities. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of guiding the youth toward positive development through education, warning that certain elements were attempting to mislead them toward fruitless goals. He made it clear that violence could never lead to the progress of any country and affirmed that while there may be flaws in governance, the state should not be unjustly criticized under the guise of bad governance.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti also highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to establish good governance, recalling his earlier declaration in the provincial assembly that no one would be allowed to sell government jobs. He proudly mentioned that merit-based recruitment had been carried out in the Education Department, ensuring that deserving individuals received their rightful opportunities.

The Chief Minister pointed out the need for reforms in various departments, citing the example of the Zakat Department, where the government was spending Rs. 1.6 billion annually to distribute Rs. 30 crore in Zakat, which could have been more efficiently handled at the local level by deputy commissioners.

In his address, he also condemned anti-state propaganda on social media, mentioning that the state had evidence that certain elements were using social media, artificial intelligence tools, and other means to carry out anti-state activities. He noted that negative aspects were often highlighted on social media, while positive developments, such as the ongoing restoration of the Science College, were ignored.

The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s efforts to provide scholarships for Balochistan’s youth to study at prestigious universities like Oxford and Harvard, while certain hostile elements were trying to recruit them for suicide missions, a highly alarming situation.

He called on teachers to support the state in its efforts, stating that they would be held accountable on the Day of Judgment for the roles they played in shaping the future of the youth.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti also addressed the issue of unbalanced development in Balochistan, pointing out that this was a nationwide issue, not limited to the province. He explained that the development seen in cities like Karachi and Lahore was not reflected in other parts of the country, and the government was committed to providing equal opportunities for progress in all areas.

In closing, the Chief Minister praised the performance of Secretary of Communications Lala Jan Jaffar for his efforts in the restoration of the Science College and extended his congratulations. The event was attended by Speaker of the Provincial Assembly Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hamid Khan Durrani, members of the provincial assembly, the Secretary of Higher Education, the Secretary of Communications, and other relevant officials.
