Trump Announces Additional 10% Tariff on Chinese Imports Starting March 4

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that additional tariffs of 10% will be imposed on Chinese exports starting from March 4. In a statement on Thursday, Trump also mentioned that 25% tariffs will be applied to Mexican and Canadian goods from the same date.

Mexico, China, and Canada are among the U.S.’s three largest trading partners, and the simultaneous imposition of tariffs on all three nations is expected to raise the prices of essential goods for American consumers, especially at a time when inflation is already on the rise in the country.

President Trump stated that he has planned to impose a 10% tariff on goods coming from China, marking the latest development in his ongoing trade disputes.

In response, China’s Minister of Commerce expressed concern over the additional 10% tariff imposed by the U.S. He stated that China opposes Trump’s recent tariffs on Chinese exports and hopes that the U.S. will avoid making such mistakes. The Chinese official also expressed hope that the U.S. would resolve its differences through negotiations.

It is worth noting that last month, Trump had announced a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico, as well as a 10% tariff on Chinese goods. However, he later reversed the tariffs imposed on Canadian and Mexican imports.
