Political Leaders Discuss Negotiations and Future Prospects

Islamabad:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Mohammad Khan expressed that the doors of his party are always open for negotiations, and that it was PTI chairman Imran Khan himself who played a fundamental role in initiating the recent talks. Speaking during Express News’ program “Center Stage,” he stated that PTI’s decision to withdraw from negotiations was made out of necessity. He added that had the government shown seriousness in forming a judicial commission for the May 9 and November 26 incidents, the situation would never have escalated to this point. Khan emphasized that negotiations might resume if the government agrees to form the commission.

Barrister Aqeel Malik from the ruling party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), responded by stating that new desires emerge following every negotiation attempt. He noted that written demands had already been presented, and members of the negotiation committee had met individually to discuss the matters. According to Malik, even today, some members of the committee met and requested final discussions to proceed smoothly, hinting that meetings might take place soon.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Qamar Zaman Kaira mentioned that the party’s Central Executive Committee had voiced serious concerns, which have been consistently communicated through media to both the party’s leadership and the general public. Kaira expressed dissatisfaction that agreements previously made were not being followed and reiterated that the government should stick to the agreed formulas for smooth governance, especially considering the country’s current challenges.

The political leaders emphasized the importance of trust, adherence to agreements, and the need for constructive dialogue to address the nation’s pressing issues.
